Instrumentation and control technician role in water operations with the Region of Waterloo, based at the Mannheim Water Treatment Plant at 2069 Ottawa Street South in Kitchener, Ontario. The technician is a certified operator under Ontario Regulation 128/04, handling operations, maintenance and emergency response on water treatment, distribution and systems equipment, and installing, operating and maintaining equipment at remote sites including control transformers, chemical and process analyzers and PLC and remote processing unit panels. The work includes programming, verifying and testing operating software, SCADA input, and acting as Operator in Charge during project software and PLC upgrades, as well as designing, building and commissioning electrical controls, chemical and plant process systems, and carrying out system upgrades covering control strategies, program development and commissioning and testing. The role also calibrates equipment including ultraviolet sensors and keeps logs, work orders, computerized maintenance management records, piping and instrumentation diagrams and remote processing unit programs.
