Martinrea International is hiring a Senior Controls Engineer for its Hydroform facility in Brampton, a plant producing lightweight structures and propulsion components for the automotive industry. The role provides technical leadership for advanced controls, automation and robotics, and hands-on technical support for the manufacturing equipment and systems on the floor, with the goal of protecting production uptime, quality, safety and continuous improvement. Day to day, that means advanced troubleshooting and support across PLCs, HMIs, robotics, welding systems, sensors, safety systems, servo systems, VFDs and industrial networks, covering automated assembly lines, presses, projection, MIG and resistance welding, robotic cells, conveyors, safety circuits and vision systems. The controls platform is Allen-Bradley: ControlLogix and CompactLogix controllers, Studio 5000 and ladder logic, I/O troubleshooting, online diagnostics, program backups and change control, together with PanelView and FactoryTalk View HMI work — troubleshooting, screen modifications, alarms and operator interface improvements. Robot work centres on Fanuc systems: troubleshooting, program adjustments, recovery methods, collision prevention, weld interface problems and cycle optimization. The engineer also reviews, modifies and improves PLC and HMI programs to support equipment reliability, safety, quality, cycle time, error proofing and overall production performance, and keeps the controls documentation current — PLC, HMI and robot backups, electrical drawings, change logs, control narratives, network layouts and troubleshooting procedures.
